Bayern Munich has been at the top of their game all season. They have remained at the top of the Bundesliga despite injuries that have plagued the team all season. As they approach the round-of-16 in the Champions League and the end of the Bundesliga season, here are the top three stories that you should know.

1) Javi Martinez Will Miss Four Weeks

Javi Martinez is set to miss about four weeks after undergoing surgery on his left knee. Martinez announced on Twitter that the injury was not serious; he suffered minor meniscus damage which required the surgery. Unfortunately, he is set to be sidelined for the rest of the month, keeping out of some important games on the schedule. He will miss the Champions league round-of-16 first leg away to Juventus on February 23rd as well as the Bundesliga match away to Wolfsburg on February 27th.

2) Mario Gotze Returns

Mario Gotze is close to returning to the field after suffering a groin injury while with Germany in October. He resumed team training on Monday and hopes to be back to full strength soon. “On Monday morning the Germany international took part in FCB team training for the first time since his severe groin muscle injury,” a Bayern statement read. “Gotze completed the full session including shots on goal and a practice match without any problems.”

3) Bayern Beats Hoffenheim, Guardiola Worried About Defense

Robert Lewandowski scored both goals in Bayern Munich’s 2-0 win over Hoffenheim. The win keeps Bayern eight points ahead of Borussia Dortmund. Despite holding Hoffenheim scoreless, Guardiola revealed that he is concerned over the state of his Bayern Munich back line. Javin Martinez, Jerome Boateng, and Medhi Benatia are all injured. Bayern will need other players to continually step up in the absence of the defensive leaders.
